Montreal, September 8th, 2011 – Time to suit up! The Festival edition of Puces POP is back with its annual Fashion POP competition and Record Fair along with the ever so anticipated Puces POP fair. These FREE events are inviting one and all to check out up-and-coming designers battle for the Fashion POP title, browse vinyl and albums from Montreal’s finest labels, promoters and collectors, as well as shop the work of 70 unique artisans and crafters.

Fashion POP will help to kick off the fest September 21st at 8pm at our new late night space, l’Église POP Little Burgundy, to the music of DJ Cadence Weapon. Five emerging designers will take it to the runway and compete for a chance to win a $1000 cash prize from Le Chateau, a 4 page spread in WORN Fashion Journal and a $500 Le Chateau gift certificate. This year’s designers will be Isabelle Campeau, Genevieve Savard, Jon Schmidt, Marie-Eve Dion, Karen Vaquilar’s Remy & Mercy and Maude Nibelungen . Once again, Fashion POP’s runways will be graced by the models of Dulcedo Management.

September 24th and 25th, top crafters, artists and artisans will set up their tables at the popular Puces POP fair at the St-Michael Church (corner St-Viateur and St-Urbain). Some highlights include clothing lines Les Enfants Sauvages, Ovate, Josiane Perron, Atelier B. , jewellery by April Mayde, Jesophi, La Raffinerie, This Ilk and The Angry Weather, monster pillows by Tyson Bodnarchuk, silkscreen accessories by Spins & Needles, wooden housewares by Mitz Takahashi and more! Open from 11am to 6pm, come one, come all!

In parallel to their arts & crafts fair, Puces POP will also be running its Record Fair on September 24th and 25th at the Ukrainian Federation/Salle Exclaim! from 11am to 6pm. For the first time this year, The Record Fair will host a miniseries of Symposium talks, including a contact mic workshop and a show & tell. On the music side, vinyl nerds will find the latest releases by local indie labels Sublime Frequencies, Dare to Care, Fixture Records and Arbutus Records, crates full of second hand vinyl from local collectors, show tickets by local promoters Blue Skies Turn Black and even an instrument repair booth!

Puces POP was created in 2004 with the desire to bring together the extremely talented scene of designers, crafters and artists in Montreal into one marketplace. Now directed by Marilis Cardinal and Tessa Smith, Puces POP holds year round events and has expanded its activities to also curating Fashion POP, Lil’ Biz, Vintage POP, Design POP and, during the festival, a Record Fair.
